About Us

​​​​​​The Genuine Article formed in 2022 out of a mutual passion for soulful vocal harmony. Our duo features Matt Barnett, an accomplished singer and guitarist with extensive experience performing throughout Hawaii and Santa Barbara, and Kathy Kamath, a singer songwriter, who holds a BA in music from UCSB and has been singing professionally in Santa Barbara for over 20 years. Our repertoire includes an eclectic mix of 250+ popular tunes ranging from Joni Mitchell, and Fleetwood Mac to Marvin Gay and Bill Withers to Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and STP. We also write and perform original work.

 

Through our intricate vocal and acoustic guitar arrangements, we strive to create musical experiences that inspire people to sing, dance and connect. We never work off a static set list and each show is tailored to the crowd and venue.
